Therapeutic Parenting

About the service

Therapeutic parenting is an approach that involves a high level of nurture which aims to increase the child’s sense of safety within the parent child relationship. This can be of particular importance for children who have experienced early neglect and abuse. At the core of therapeutic parenting is an increased sense of empathy for the feelings underneath the child’s behaviour, whilst still maintaining firm and clear boundaries which are consistent and predictable for the child. There is also a focus on self care for parents, to enhance their ability to remain regulated when parenting in challenging situations.

Family therapy

Attachment focused therapies aim to help children to feel safe within their family relationships and help parents have a better relationship with their child.

Video interaction guidance

Uses videos of real life interactions, focusing on the positive aspects, and provides opportunities for reflection and understanding of the emotional responses within these relationships.
